Established in Saxmundham Suffolk, Close to both Aldeburgh and Southwold, Emma K Framing has been offering an individual service for 20 years in Saxmundham. Founded on a passion for innovative framing designs 3and solutions, of impeccable quality matched only by our commitment to customer service.
Well known for specialising in custom framing, cross-stitch and tapestry. We exhibit and sell a wide range of art from established and up and coming local artists. We also specialise in an innovative range of greeting cards that meet most occasions. We include a number of designs from local artists that cover the wonderful Suffolk landscape and landmarks
All the work involved to achieve your completed framing is carried out on site at the shop, nothing leaves, therefore giving you security and peace of mind.
We try to make the sales process as easy and as painless as possible for you.
We appreciate that it can be difficult to find the perfect frame. We do have a large range of frames available on display and can always order samples in if you are interested in a moulding that we do not usually keep in stock.
We turn around most orders within two weeks* However there are peak/busy times and whilst we try to keep to two weeks there are occasions when it may take a little longer. Following the Covid lockdown and upon reopening we have been very busy with orders taking up to four weeks to turnaround. We will always indicate how long your order is likely to take at the time of you placing your order.
An express service is available for those important occasions where an item is required within seven days**
Regarding our pricing, it is very difficult to be able to quote a price online or over the phone. Every order is dependant on the choice of materials used, if a mount is going to be used this will increase the overall size of an item and therefore increase the overall cost. All of the materials used are ordered in and we make the frame especially for your item. As with any bespoke item it is often slightly more expensive than a mass produced product. We can say that by far our customers are generally very happy with our prices which is evidenced with very good repeat customer orders.
*Based on turnaround times across a year, not including peak periods.
**Express Service incurs an additional charge.
When it comes to framing we can usually find a solution for whatever item you are looking to frame.
A large part of our work is around the reframing of family favourites, photos, prints, watercolours, oils and acrylics on board or stretchers.
We have seen a number of interesting items come through the door which have at times presented a challenge, but at least seen our customers leave happy. Items that we hve been asked to frame include; a doll, flag, 45' vinyl single, medals, army jackets, football shirts, flags, maps and so on.
We use conservation materials during our process which protects our customers items. We usually frame with 2mm clear floating glass but if the item or the customer asks for it we can supply and fit either non-reflective or ultra-violet protection glass.
We also custom build mirrors using either plain or bevelled mirror glass.
For customers that require it we are happy to cut mountboard and glass to order.
We are also pleased to offer a photo restoration service for photos up to A4 size.
Q: Can I park easily at the shop?
A: The shop does not have parking but is within very easy walking distance of both Waitrose and Tesco, both of which offer two hours free parking.
Q: Can you clean and repair pictures?
A: Yes we can, we can clean most items that sit behind glass. We will also ensure the frame is safe to hang and where needed replace the hooks and cord. Unfortunately we do not currently offer a cleaning or restoration service for canvas work.
Q: Do you sell ready made picture frames?
A: Yes, we have a range of ready made photo frames and clip frames.
Q: I don't know much about Saxmundham, is it worth a visit?
A: Saxmundham is a thriving market town with a huge range of hard working individual shops and businesses as well as being blessed by two major supermarkets. We are well placed for the coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold as well as the very popular Snape Maltings www.snapemaltings.co.uk but dont take my word for it, come and see for yourself.

We are very fortunate to be located on a corner at a set of traffic lights, this enables our windows to become an excellent sales opportunity for art.
We offer local artists the opportunity to display their work in the window and within the shop. There is not a charge for being promoted at Emma K's but we do take a very reasonable 30% fee on items sold.
We are often asked what type of art sells. This is a difficult one as we have sold a wide range of different pieces using different media. I always suggest that we are between two major tourist destinations and our sales quite often come from customers up for the day or on holiday and like to take a little something away. Therefore a local landmark such as the house in the clouds at Thorpeness, a boat on the beach at Aldeburgh, something that customers will remember from their day out will generally always do well.
Artists that we have framed for and have promoted at Emma K's can be found with their contact details in the preceding column "Friends of Emma K Framing"
